Sea transportation has several advantages over other modes of transport. Here is a list of them:

• Cost-effective. Shipping cargo by sea is significantly cheaper than by plane or car. This is because the cost price is lower, and the demand for Chinese products is increasing.
• Security. The risk of spoilage or loss of goods is much lower than with road or rail shipping. This is because sea transportation is much more stable and secure.
• Versatility. Any type of cargo can be transported, including loose, liquid, dangerous, toxic, and bulky goods. However, delivery of perishable products is prohibited.
• High carrying capacity. Cargo ships can withstand a load of about 25,000 tons, making it possible to transport oversized objects from the machine-building industry and many other non-standard cargoes.

The disadvantages of sea transportation are limited. For example,

• Slow delivery and limited routes. The delivery is carried out from one port to another, and the timing depends on the route. For instance, cargo shipped from the port of Shenzhen in China to Ukraine would take an average of 60 days to arrive. In comparison, cargo from the US to Ukraine would take 20 to 45 days. 
• There is no option for hand-to-hand delivery. Other modes such as road transport, rail transport, or airplanes should be engaged.
